Paws, Whiskers and Wags, A Pet Crematory
Yesterday was my quarterly Sunday meeting with Georgia Network of Professional Pet Sitters which was hosted by Paws, Whiskers and Wags, a pet crematory. I know what you’re thinking when you hear pet crematory, and I thought the same thing until yesterday. I certainly didn’t expect the genuine and warm-hearted greeting that we all received by Christine, the owner and her staff. That and the squeaky clean environment were enough to change my thought process on pet crematories, and then Christine stood up and told us all about Paws, Whiskers and Wags and I was seriously impressed.
Christine Hunsaker is the owner and founder of Paws, Whiskers & Wags and the former President of North America’s largest human cremation company. She was born and raised in the funeral business, holds an international MBA and most importantly, is a pet lover.
How Paws, Whiskers & Wags was started . . .
“In February of 2004 our little dog Casey died in my arms. It was midnight on a Sunday and I was due to catch a plane the next day. Casey was 14 years old and a big part of our family. While I had been in the cremation and funeral business the past 20 years (I even grew up living in a funeral home), I was unprepared for the loss of Casey. More so, I was unprepared, disappointed and even shocked at our experience over the next 24 hours as we unsuccessfully attempted throughout the night to gain assistance in helping us with our grief and to have Casey cremated. This experience led me to create Paws, Whiskers & Wags.”
None of us want to think about the day that one of our beloved pets die, but Paws, Whiskers and Wags urges all of us to think ahead and get to know them before the need arises. This pet crematory is the only one in the Atlanta-metro area who uses something called Pet-Tracker 360, which they developed and introduced.
Pet Tracker 360 is a unique system to track your pet individually through all stages of its life. In the event the pet is lost, Pet Tracker 360 can assist in the return of your pet to you. The Pet Tracker 360 tag is to be worn on your pet’s collar and contains a tracking number linked directly to our database.
Pet Tracker 360 follows a pet not only through life, but even in death. This system resolves a major obstacle in pet cremation today, knowing if the ashes returned to an owner are actually those of their deceased pet. Until Pet Tracker 360, that was impossible to know for sure. This patented system will guarantee the ashes belong to the pet being cremated because the tag is impervious to cremation.
Christine mentioned some of the older pet crematories in Atlanta and told us that their cremation machines are 10,000 pound machines….can you imagine how many pets that they can put in those? There would be no way to determine if the ashes that are returned to you are actually your pet or not. These places also don’t welcome their clients to come and sit and wait for the ashes of their dearly departed pets in a very warm and friendly reception area. These place also do not offer tours and will actually refuse tours. Paws, Whiskers and Wags offers same day service at no extra cost and truly go above and beyond to let you know that they care about you and your pets. I highly recommend taking a tour of the facility and just meeting Christine and her staff. It was an enlightening experience.
