I’ve noticed an increase in recalls of pet food lately, so thought I’d put a list together and keep it updated. Please let me know if I am missing any. I’m getting this information from the FDA and from Dog Food Advisor. It’s highly advised that you avoid all edible products from China- for your pets and yourself!

Grayson Days Festival 2012 Was Fun For All!

Best Fit Pet Sit Services had a booth at Grayson Days 2012 and weren’t sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the crowd and the amount of vendors, food and fun! We met many nice pet loving people from Grayson, and also from Lawrenceville, Loganville, Snellville and more of Gwinnett and the surrounding areas! According to this Gwinnett Daily Post article, there were thousands of visitors and 180 vendors!

I hope to see you at Pawfest on Saturday, May 05, 2012 and Woofstock on Saturday, May 12, 2012!

Best Fit Pet Sit Services has had a booth at the New Lawrenceville Spring Green St. Patty’s Day festival for two years in a row, and both years have been great! Yesterday’s festival was even better than the year before, and I imagine they will continue to get better and better. With over 110 vendors and lots of crafts,give-aways (including a 36 inch flat screen tv among other things), activities, food choices and more, we will continue to purchase a booth at this festival each year. I forgot to get my funnel cake and that is my one regret.

Adopt A Sweet Gray Tabby Cat! Grace, The Tiny and Sweet

Grace had a tough start in life. She was found by a kind citizen in November 2011 here in Georgia, with her two tiny new born kittens in a storm drain (pictures at end of story). Unfortunately for Grace and her kittens, their savior already had her bags packed and was moving away to Vermont. The caring woman was able to find a rescue group who would take the kittens, but they had no room for Grace. Then she called Georgia Humane.

Luckily for Grace, Joan Sammond of the wonderful Georgia Humane Society, is a sucker for a sad story, so she made room in her home for the little, young mother kitty. Joan tried Grace at the Cat Adoption Center at the Petsmart on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta, but being newly rescued and quite frightened, she didn’t do well there. Joan brought her back to her house and kept Grace separated because some of her foster dogs made a game out of chasing her.

After a few months break, Denny and I decided that it was time for us to start fostering again, so Joan set us up with Grace. She is doing great here! She stays in our guest bedroom and gets lots of attention. We brought one of our cats, Comet into the room and she was ecstatic! I believe she will be allowed to roam the house within a couple more weeks. We want to make sure we take our time, and that our other cats don’t beat her up and that she realizes there are dogs downstairs but that they can’t get her upstairs.

Grace can be a little shy, but she is definitely warming up much more quickly than some other kitties I know. This morning was around week two that she’s been at our home, and she asked my husband to love on her for the first time! Every day for the past week, she rubs against my hand, gets in my lap, gives me headbutts, purrs SO loudly and warmed up to me pretty quickly. She is a very loving cat and just wants to play, eat some delicious food and treats, and purr.

Meet Shiloh! He is a recent rescue by one of our kind Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen volunteers, Richard Schmidt just two days ago. Shiloh was wondering around a KFC dumpster, starving and searching for scraps. A near by abandoned home was apparently where he came from, there is a dog house with empty bowls and he seemed comfortable there. Richard says that Shiloh is great with his dogs and cats, but his landlord only allows 3 animals and he’s already got over the limit at 5 dogs and 2 cats from previous rescues. Shiloh was scanned for a microchip and doesn’t have one. It looks as if someone abandoned this poor fella, and possibly abused him. Shiloh has a couple of burn marks on his neck and is a little timid and reluctant and quite docile. Even though he looks as if he is a full blooded beagle, Shiloh doesn’t bark much, even when Richard’s dogs are. Shiloh isn’t neutered yet, and Richard is hoping a rescue group has an available foster home so he doesn’t get in (more) trouble with his landlord.
